Microsoft Office XP

Program Description: This course includes instruction for Microsoft Office XP software including Microsoft Word, Microsoft Power Point, Microsoft Excel, and Microsoft Publisher. After basic concepts are understood, students will strengthen and utilize these concepts using the various Microsoft Office programs. Milestones, such as quizzes throughout the course, will be placed to track student progress and ensure that each student remains up to speed on all materials covered.

Needs Assessment: The growing use and availability of computers utilized at libraries, homes and places of employment are leaving many adults behind. Changes in society, medical science, and technology create a strong need fro adults within the community to gain computer knowledge in all aspects of their lives. Learning the use of computers enables people to be more viable in the workplace. Learning the use of the Internet opens the door to a wealth of knowledge and limitless communication.

Program Outcome: Upon completion of this course, a student will gain the confidence to maneuver throughout the computer system and feel their way around applications.

Equipment and Supplies: required text, IBM compatible computer system and handouts in a classroom environment.
